ANTIQUE TERRACOTTA POTS
If you are looking for antique terracotta pots for you garden or conservatory
then these pages and the garden of our Devon showrooms are a great place to
start. Our terracotta pots come from Thailand , Morocco ,and. China, and have
had all manner of uses in their country of origin .Terracotta wine jars ,
terracotta water butts, terracotta olive jars. Antique terracotta urns ,antique
terracotta amphora. The new terracotta pots in the section are designed to
be used as terracotta planters, lily ponds and other visually appealing garden
features. Those that have been built with a traditional rounded base are sold
with an iron stand.
USING TERRACOTTA IN YOUR GARDEN
It is advisable to soak terracotta pots in water before planting then out
,as they are porous and can absorb water from the plants soil.
Care should be taken to position the pots in parts of a garden that are not
subject to heavy frost.
We have used terracotta pots outside and unprotected in Devon and Somerset
for many years with no damage from frost. I do however suggest that if you
are going to plant out your antique terracotta pots then it is useful to put
some bubble wrap in the pot so that there is room for movement within the
pot should it become frozen and the soil and moisture expand. The bubble wrap
will allow for this expansion rather that causing the pot to crack !
