The Collection >> Ming style furniture >> Pair of console tables
Ref: T16089
A good pair of waisted console tables in Elm and brown lacquer, most of which is intact on the base and legs The simple small hoof leg is in the ming style , as is the waisted construction and the corner legs. the top surface is without finish . It is smooth and naturally polished to the touch. The condition of the underside of the table is consistent with a table of this age .It is dry and lacquered. Both table tops have been off and the bases tightened up . This is fairly normal. The pale top surface is attractive , but could be polished to introduce a little colour if required , and the lacquer on the legs could be brightened up with an oil and wax finish.Although in the Ming style , i would date these tables at early 19thc , or just a little earlier . The pair were bought in Beijing from a well know dealer most of who's stock comes from Shanxi province. On one table , three of the legs have been tipped , and a piece let in to the top.
