The Collection >> Painted Tibetan Furniture >> Painted Tiger trunk
Ref: G1927
One of a pair of early 20thC Tibet trunks from Amdo greater Tibet.Tigers are a strong protector element , used in this instance to offer protection to the contents of the trunk. The use of a painted tiger skin harks back to earlier leather trunks where panels of real tiger skin were incorporated into the trunk . A real sign of the times. Tiger trunks of this age and design were very often made in pairs. Both in good order . 64 x 38 x 37 cm
