A small offering table with a single sliding door . Beautifully decorated with a foliate design in greens and blue . The metal catches for the sliding door are old but not original. The side panels are decorated with a single flowering lotus supporting a flaming jewel. The paint is mineral pigment consistent with the age of the table.
18th C or earlier . On early furniture using mineral based pigments, in order to create a depth to the green in particular, the paint is applied quite thickly.

Reatining a thick soot patina in place.
