Autumn 2009

Autumn 2009

James Yarrow and Sarah Wolfe welcome you to our first on-line Kilim exhibition.
This select group of kilims from the late 19th and early part of the 20th century are similtaneously on show in our Devon showrooms until the end of October.

I started buying kilims in Northern Pakistan in the late 80's, a mixture of Turkmen ,Uzbeck and Baluchi weavings , most of which were no more that 30 years old .Occasionaly we would get our hands on something more exciting , like an old Senna or Qashqai, but these better rugs were very much the exception.
In the course of a few short years, even these run of the mill weavings become scarce ,and when faced with mostly new goods , i stopped buying .
It wasn't until i went to Turkey a couple of years ago that i realised how much i had missed my envolvement with Kilims.
This first offering of Antique and semi-antique Anatolian kilims is set to become a regular event in our year .
