A small Elm cabinet from Shanxi province ,slightly trapeziod in shape.The edge of the cabinet is decorated with a continious line of ruyi lappets .The interior frame members are all shaped with "sword ridge" moldings strengthened with iron studs.design elements typical of furniture from this region and evident from the Ming dynasty .The original red/ orange lacquer remains intact in many places, but has been painted over in the 20thc in a simple folkart stlye.The simple iron handles and hinges are original.Two panels below the doors have been cut from the frame to create a pair of drawer fronts.The distressed top surface consistant with the age of the cabinet.Size 92 x 45 x 110 cm18thc and later .
