This Chogtse has recently been cleaned , and has come up very well .
Although i suspected that there would be a painted top surface , it was impossible to tell for sure as it was covered with a thick black grime. I have left a small area of it uncleaned under the lip of the table top.
The painted front and sides had been plastered with a high gloss modern varnish . That too has now been removed to reveal bright and vibrant colours , especially the blue and green.
The decoration is a fairly typical foliate design ,built aroung a flowering lotus.
